Spyros Nitsopoulos has a diploma from the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NA&ME) of NTUA (2006). Since early 2005 he has been working as assistant researcher of the Laboratory of Maritime Transport of NA&ME on various EC funded research projects; amongst others EU-MOP and OSH. After his graduation he began work on a PhD (May 2006) in the fields of Oil Pollution, Network Organisation, Port Reception Facilities and Logistical Support. Additionally he is employed as a Research Engineer on several projects of the Laboratory of Maritime Transport (e.g. EU-MOP, OSH, EFFORTS etc).

Mr. Nitsopoulos is a member of various scientific and professional societies including RINA, SNAME, Greek Society of Naval Engineers and the Technical Chamber of Greece. Except the Greek language (mother tongue), he speaks English and German.
